The Giulietta has always been a sporty little number, and last time it got a makeover its Italian designers came up with an even sharper design for their compact saloon. Their aim is clear, namely to have the Giulietta more closely resemble its big sister, the Giulia, which Alfa Romeo has marked out to become the new emblem of this traditional brand. The inimitable look incorporates a hexagonal radiator grille and a restyled bumper, with dark, low-key headlights completing the look. Even the design and positioning of the Giulietta letters are now the same as with the Giulia model.

The elegant, sporty external design is reflected seamlessly in the passenger compartment. The new Giulietta is of a decent quality - despite a few somewhat cheap-looking plastic touches -, comes with a range of exclusive options and is the perfect incarnation of Italian style.

The innovations that the Giulietta offers notably include the 1.6 JTDm 16V turbo diesel engine with 120hp (88kW) combined with the new Alfa Romeo TCT gearbox, combining the comfort of a traditional automatic with the driving pleasure and efficiency of a dual-clutch gearbox. The relatively small turbocompressor guarantees a high level of power, even at a low RPM.

The Alfa also offers a high degree of driving agility, with direct steering, a modern chassis and balanced weight distribution.
