Grégoire Munster, motorsport personality of the year
On Wednesday 26 February, ACL Sport organised the motorsport evening at the Parc Hotel Alvisse in Luxembourg, a gala bringing together all the players in Luxembourg motorsport. Almost 300 guests of ACL Sport attended this gala, which recognised the achievements of Luxembourg drivers over the course of an eventful year. Of the 321 licence holders, including 23 women, that make up ACL Sport, around 50 were honoured in their respective disciplines or for their overall contribution to motorsport.

One-two for Grégoire Munster
This year, for the second consecutive year, Grégoire Munster, official M-Sport WRC driver, has won the highest distinction of ACL Sport as Autosportler vum Joer 2024 (Motorsportsperson of the Year 2024), after a successful season in the WRC.
‘Once again this year, ACL Sport has enjoyed great success and I would like to thank all those who have contributed to this success and dynamism throughout the year,’ said Romain Gantrel, president of ACL Sport.
Following the vote of the public, the LMWA (Luxembourg Motorsports Writers Association), the ACL Sport Management Committee and its sporting and technical stewards, Grégoire Munster won with 39.72% of the votes, ahead of Chester Kieffer with 25.94% of the votes and Gil Linster with 20.83% of the votes.
“I warmly congratulate Grégoire Munster for his progress and his performances throughout the year. My congratulations also go to all the drivers. I know they have all fought with the same passion and determination. They play a full part in the development and influence of motorsport in Luxembourg,” said Yves Wagner, President of the ACL.
An evening dedicated to enthusiasts
The ACL Sport Management Committee has unveiled more of its programme and the objectives set to develop motor sport in Luxembourg. This is achieved above all through the recognition of the people who work every day with passion and dedication for motor sports, in particular by strengthening the voluntary associations and federations. “With talented drivers, promising young people and great teams, we can position motor sport as an important part of the sporting landscape. I would also like to give special thanks to the people who are often in the shadows but are essential: the volunteers and club members,” emphasised Miriam Eisenmenger, CEO of the ACL.
An exciting 2024
Looking back briefly at the key moments of the past year, Florian Brouir, sporting director of ACL Sport, emphasised “the renewed dynamism of motorsport in Luxembourg in 2024. The Rallye Lëtzebuerg once again lived up to all expectations this summer. With a route that drivers like and sections that spectators enjoy, the organisers of the event, Ecurie Roude Léiw, have made this rally a popular event that brings together fans of this discipline from all over Europe.”
Another highlight was the revival of the Eschdorf Hillclimb and, above all, its success with the public. “After several years of absence, the Union des Pilotes has restored the event’s reputation. No fewer than 150 drivers lined up on the starting grid, including 22 drivers from Luxembourg. Here too, the public turned out in force to cheer on the drivers taking part,” said Florian Brouir, who also took the opportunity to thank all those involved, including the voluntary organisations that contributed to this success.
Last but not least, Luxembourg also shone on the international stage at the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia, where 11 drivers proudly represented Luxembourg in their respective disciplines. “Although we came close to winning a medal on several occasions, the level of performance of our drivers is worth mentioning. In almost all disciplines, the representative made it to the final stages, which is to be commended!” Florian Brouir was keen to congratulate.
A 2025 in the continuity of 2024
On the strength of a remarkable 2024, ACL Sport wants to continue in this direction with the creation and launch of new initiatives. ACL Sport has already announced the return of the Lorentzweiler hill climb, organised by Écurie Luxembourg and Racing Action Lorentzweiler. The event will serve as the launch of the 2025 Luxembourg Hill Climb Championship. Later in the season, we look forward to the Luxembourg Car and Karting Slalom Championship on the track at Colmar-berg for two weekends of thrilling racing!
ACL Sport, like motorsports, will continue to innovate in order to facilitate the daily life of drivers by pursuing a global strategy of digitalisation of the service. A platform will soon be available that will allow each licence holder to have their pilot file, bringing together all the information needed to apply for and renew their licence.
For this season, with the publication of the National Sporting Code 2025, some new regulations have been introduced. ACL Sport therefore wishes to encourage licence holders to take part in a large number of events. That is why we have designed our national championships with events included in the sporting calendar, while leaving drivers the option of participating in other recognised races and scoring points for our championships.
Finally, in karting, the ranking will also be new, bringing together the different classes. The idea is to have a championship in which all Luxembourg drivers can compete against each other. A prize per class will still be awarded, but a reward for the overall ranking will now also be given.
