Eleven tyres offer solid and reliable performance
Our tyre test, carried out for the year 2025, highlighted the performance of 18 tyre models with a dimension of 225/40 R18. This test, which is mainly aimed at vehicles in the compact category, evaluated each tyre on various criteria of safety, driving comfort and environmental performance. Here is a detailed overview of the results and the methodologies used.
Test methodology
The tests were carried out on specialised test tracks, with precise measurements of performance on dry and wet roads. The criteria evaluated mainly include:
Driving safety: Includes manoeuvrability, stability in corners, and braking distances.
Driving comfort: Evaluates steering response, ride comfort and interior noise.
Environmental impact: Includes expected lifespan, tyre wear, energy efficiency and external noise.
In total, nine indicators were used to establish an overall rating for each tyre, ranging from 1.8 to 5.5. Note that tyres with a rating between 0.6 and 1.5 correspond to the rating ’ very good’, between 1.6 and 2.5 correspond to the rating “good”, between 2.6 and 3.5 correspond to the rating “satisfactory”, between 3.6 and 4.5 correspond to the rating “sufficient” and finally between 4.6 and 5.5 correspond to the rating “unsatisfactory”.
Ranking of tyres tested
During our tyre test, we evaluated a total of 18 models. The results show that 11 tyres obtained an overall rating of ‘good’, indicating a solid and reliable performance. Four tyres were rated ‘satisfactory’, while two others received a rating of ‘sufficient’. Finally, one tyre was classified as ‘unsatisfactory’, highlighting performance below expectations. These results provide a clear overview of the varied performance of the tyres tested, enabling consumers to make informed choices based on their specific needs.
