Six control stations in Luxembourg

The SNCT is the benchmark body for vehicle roadworthiness testing in Luxembourg. Founded to ensure road safety and the integrity of the vehicles on our roads, it plays a crucial role for drivers and car enthusiasts.

A trusted partner in road safety

Since its creation, the SNCT has been committed to guaranteeing rigorous and reliable technical inspections. Every year, almost 300,000 vehicles pass through the expert hands of our sworn technical inspectors, who ensure that every vehicle complies with current safety and environmental standards.

Our inspection centres are strategically located across Luxembourg to provide an accessible and convenient service. Whether you’re in Luxembourg City, Esch-sur-Alzette or another region, you’ll find an SNCT centre ready to welcome you.

Our services in detail

The SNCT offers a full range of services to meet all drivers’ needs

Periodic Technical Inspection: Compulsory for all vehicles, this inspection ensures that your vehicle complies fully with safety standards. Our inspectors examine crucial components such as brakes, headlights, pollutant emissions and much more. In addition to the common points, the SNCT carries out a series of specific checks for each type of vehicle, such as commercial vehicles, HGVs or electric and hybrid vehicles.

Technical inspection following a rejection: In the event of a failure at the initial periodic inspection, the SNCT offers its customers specific ‘rejection’ appointments, focusing specifically on a re-check of the points that gave rise to the initial failure.

To enhance your comfort and experience at the SNCT, you will be welcomed in a dedicated reception area and a waiting area will be available while one of our inspectors checks your vehicle.

Innovation and technology

At the SNCT, we firmly believe that innovation is the key to improving our services and guaranteeing ever-higher levels of road safety. By investing in the latest generation equipment, we take advantage of the most advanced technologies to carry out fast, accurate checks. Our ISO17020 certification guarantees that our tests meet the most stringent metrological standards.

Environmental commitment

The SNCT is not only dedicated to road safety, but also to environmental protection. By checking for leaks and analysing gaseous emissions, we help to reduce the environmental impact of vehicles on the road. Through our expertise and advice, the SNCT encourages drivers to adopt more environmentally-friendly practices, such as regular servicing of their vehicles to comply with current environmental legislation.

Preparing for roadworthiness tests

We know that roadworthiness tests can sometimes be a source of stress for motorists. Here are a few tips to help you prepare:

Prepare your documents: Make sure you have all the necessary documents, such as the vehicle registration document, the paid tax sticker, the valid insurance certificate, the certificate of conformity (if available) and the certificate of the last roadworthiness test (if available).

Check the basics: Before the inspection, check simple things like the lighting (headlights, dipped headlights, indicators, fog lights and brake lights), tyres, windscreen wiper levels and the operation of the windscreen wipers.

Anticipate repairs: If you know that your vehicle has specific problems, have them repaired before you come for the check-up.
